Brief introduction to the different food groups: There are 5 different food groups. Dairy, meat, cereals, fruits and vegetables and fats and oils. Dietitians, recommend eating a balanced amount of these food groups per day. This balance is called the food pyramid and is a guideline as to what foods we should eat and how much.
